Harley-Davidson dealership participates in “Breast Cancer Can Stick It” event
Customers and team members at Adam Smith’s Texas Harley gathered at the Bedford Harley-Davidson dealership to give breast cancer a message: “stick it.” Texas Harley partnered with the Breast Cancer Can Stick It! foundation on October 12 to increase awareness and raise funds for the fight against breast cancer during National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The event was one of eight across Texas that featured rock bands and drummers with pink drumsticks.
“At Texas Harley, we are a family and breast cancer has most certainly touched all of our families,” said Texas Harley owner Adam Smith. “This is an opportunity for us to come together to learn more about this disease and work to fight it with fundraising and increased awareness, as well as live music and fun.”
Breast Cancer Can Stick It! was founded by professional drummer April Samuels, who has been breast cancer-free for four years. This year’s event allowed her to beat her drums for the Texas Harley family while raising money and awareness to beat the disease.
“What do drums and breast cancer have in common?” asked Samuels at the event. “The answer is: you can beat them both! Let’s stick it to breast cancer together.” The JuJu Beans performed live music at the dealership while guests raised funds with a kissing booth, raffles, a bake sale, games such as “Bra Pong” and more. Money raised, including funds from a group ride departing from the dealership – $20 per rider and $10 per passenger – also went to the foundation.
“We are thankful to all of our sponsors, especially to those as generous as Adam Smith’s Texas Harley. In just a few short hours, we were able to raise more than $2,000 because of the involvement of their team members and a great group of awesome Harley riders,” added Samuels. “We were thrilled to be part of that experience, support and fun. Thank you again, Adam Smith and Texas Harley. What we did together really does make a difference.”
Adam Smith’s Texas Harley dealership is actively involved in supporting several local charitable organizations. The dealership recently donated more than $15,000 to Keller’s Community Storehouse for programs that meet basic needs for local children and is a long-time supporter of the Wounded Warriors Project, donating more than $22,000 to that organization in 2013. In November, the dealership also participated in the Spokes 4 Hope Keller DPS and Southlake PD Motorcycle Rodeo.
