Medical City North Hills Recognized for Heart Care with ACC Electrophysiology Accreditation

North Richland Hills The American College of Cardiology has recognized Medical City North Hills for its demonstrated expertise and commitment to treating heart patients who require treatment in its electrophysiology (EP) lab. Medical City North Hills was awarded Electrophysiology Accreditation based on rigorous onsite evaluation of the staffs ability to evaluate, diagnose and treat patients in the EP lab.

Electrophysiology labs provide care for patients with arrhythmias and may require treatments such as cardiac ablation and implantable devices such as pacemakers and implantable cardioverter defibrillators.

Medical City North Hills is honored to be one of only seven hospitals in Texas who have earned this accreditation, says Spencer Turner, CEO of Medical City North Hills. This is a testament to our dedication to providing patients with high-quality, cardiac care.

Hospitals receiving Electrophysiology Accreditation from the ACC must take part in a multi-faceted clinical process that involves completing a gap analysis, examining variances of care, developing an action plan, a rigorous onsite review and monitoring for sustained success. Improved methods and strategies of caring for patients include streamlining processes, implementing guidelines and standards, and adopting best practices in the precise care of EP lab patients. Facilities that achieve accreditation meet or exceed an array of stringent criteria and have organized a team of doctors, nurses, clinicians, and other administrative staff that earnestly support the efforts leading to better patient education, improved patient outcomes, and more effective and efficient disease control.

Loveioy Meet: Tackling Tough Hills and Mental Battles

The Lovejoy meet wasnt just a physical testit pushed everyone mentally too. Competing against over 75 schools on a tough, hilly course, every runner had to dig deep to keep going. Coach Wren mentioned We sat out many of our runners this week either because of injury or the purpose of rest. The runners that competed ran with great effort and learned a lot about themselves. We are continuing to get better as a team. But, despite the challenge, the team stayed strong and powered through. It wasnt easy, but those smiles at the finish line made it all worth it!

Top Performers for the Male Runners

Varsity Boys Elite:
Pranav Vegiraju finished 14th with a time of 15:43.10

Coach Wren remarked, "Pranav was our only runner in this division, and finishing in the top 20 gave him valuable experience. He learned a lot from this race. Ive been challenging our runners to have a plan during practice and to execute it in races. Pranav, like many others, is getting the hang of that."

Varsity Boys (Top 5 Team Score):

Rodrigo Abrego finished 14th with a time of 6:56.90
Tanish Neelapu finished 23rd with a time of 17:16.60
Sam Meier finished 35th with a time of 17:37.20

According to Coach Wren, This team was a mix of young and experienced runners, and they finished 4th overall. Theyve been competing well, led by Rodrigo, Tanish, and Sam. These guys continue to impress every week.

Elite JV Boys (Top 15 Team Score):

Noah Law finished 50th with a time of 19:36.00
Christian Todd finished 59th with a time of 19:41.40
Cannon Stehly finished 73rd with a time of 19:52.00

Coach Wren praised their development, saying, Noah, Christian, and Cannon were our top finishers. Im especially impressed with Christians progresshes been improving each week.

JV Boys (Top 11 Team Score):

Matthew Mirza finished 65th with a time of 21:10.50
Carlos Ramirez finished 69th with a time of 21:18.80
Aaron Joseph finished 78th with a time of 21:30.10

Coach Wren added, Matthew, Carlos, and Aaron were our top finishers on the JV team, and its exciting to see their growth. Everyone on this team seems to be trending upward.

Varsity Girls Elite (5K):

Maya Easterwood finished 2nd with a time of 17:16.50
Mallory Sherrer finished 90th with a time of 20:23.50
Rachel Arrington finished 151st with a time of 21:27.50

Coach Wren shared, We only ran four athletes in this group, and Mayas 2nd place finish on such a tough course, against top-notch competition, was outstanding.

Elite JV Girls (Top 8 Team Score):

Ava Garcia finished 29th with a time of 22:59.70
Akshaya Ashokanand finished 32th with a time of 23:13.80
Shreya Shah finished 37th with a time of 23:22.10

Coach Wren noted, This group finished 8th overall, with Ava, Akshaya, and Shreya leading the way. Im excited to see what the rest of the season holds for them.

JV Girls (Top 10 Team Score):

Daniela Mazzini finished 35th with a time of 25:19.20
Navya Avvaru finished 45th with a time of 25:36.80
Lauren Tang finished 74th with a time of 26:29.40

Coach Wren highlighted their effort, saying, Daniela and Navya were our top finishers, and I was particularly proud of Daniela for pushing through discomfort in her shoulder. A special shout-out goes to Shriya Emani, who persevered and completed her first 5K race.

Coach Wrens Remarks

Looking ahead, Coach Wren emphasized the importance of the upcoming races:

"Our JV runners will be competing at the Rick Neill Memorial Invitational this Thursday in Highland Village. Meanwhile, our Varsity runners will have the chance to race on the state course down in Round Rock on Saturday. This is a crucial opportunity for us to get familiar with the course ahead of the state championships in November, where we hope to compete for the title."

Looking Ahead

As the season continues, the team remains focused on pushing harder, learning from every race, and continuing to grow both physically and mentally. Were not just racing to compete, but to learn and improve, Coach Wren explained. Our goal is to get better every time we step onto the course.

With the state championship in November on the horizon, the team is determined to refine their skills and work together to achieve their goals. Were getting stronger with each race, and the hard work were putting in now will pay off when it matters most, Coach Wren added.

Though the journey may be challenging, the teams unwavering commitment to excellence will guide them to the finish line, where every step brings them closer to their ultimate goal.

Coppell Lions Club were at the Back to School Fair at Irving Bible Church conducting Spot Vision Screening with the clubs Vision Screening Team led by Lions Tim Decker, Alice Decker, Ron Harrison, Kim Taylor, Kris Pollard, Margaret Meek, Scott Murdock and Debbie Goodwin. Great service project for the Lions. Students received uniforms, backpacks, school supplies, haircuts, Vision Screening, medical assessments and snacks.

Park Place Lexus Grapevine recognized Grapevine Colleyville Independent School District Teachers of the Year, Laura Jean Couch and Aaron Greer. Couch was named Collegiate Academy Elementary Teacher of the Year and Greer was recognized as Secondary Teacher of the Year for GCISD.

The two Grapevine Colleyville ISD teachers were offered their choice to drive a Lexus IS or NX for the 2024 summer, two tickets to a Texas Rangers game with a parking pass and access to the Lexus Lounge that includes an all you can eat buffet and drinks of choice. Park Place Lexus Plano recognized Plano Independent School District Teachers of the Year, Meghann Sciples and Mitch Stobee. Sciples was named Elementary Teacher of the Year and Stobee was recognized as Secondary Teacher of the Year for PISD.

$65,000 IN SCHOLARSHIPS GIVEN AT 13TH ANNUAL BROADWAY DALLAS HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL THEATRE AWARDS

High school students, teachers, parents, friends, arts advocates, celebrities and city officials celebrated as winners and scholarship recipients were announced at the 13^th Annual Broadway Dallas High School Musical Theatre Awards (HSMTA). The ceremony was hosted by Dallas native and two-time HSMTA winner Haley Dortch and took place live at the Music Hall at Fair Park on Friday, May 24, featuring student performances, award presentations including $65,000 in scholarships, and acceptance speeches from the winners.

The Broadway Dallas HSMTA aim to inspire and honor excellence in high school musical theater, and to recognize the importance of musical theater and arts education within the North Texas community. This regional program culminates at the Music Hall with an awards ceremony, modeled after the Tony Awards®, to recognize outstanding musical theater productions and students.

The 2024 Outstanding Musical Award went to Rowlett High Schools production of Six and the awards for Outstanding Lead Performer were presented to Damson Chola Jr. (Cleburne High School) and Fabiola Caraballo Quijada (Tyler Legacy High School). "We say this every year, but its true the Broadway Dallas High School Musical Theatre Awards is the most special night of the year, said Ken Novice, president and CEO of Broadway Dallas. A total of 79 productions from 73 participating high schools were evaluated by a diverse group of highly qualified judges from the North Texas theater community. Awards were presented in 15 categories and scholarships were awarded to outstanding graduating seniors who apply and selected by the Broadway Dallas scholarship panel. Through funds raised by private donations, Broadway Dallas HSMTA awards $65,000 in scholarships to deserving students. To date, Broadway Dallas HSMTA College Scholarship program has awarded more than $500,000 in cash scholarships to deserving students.

The live ceremony was hosted by Dallas native Haley Dortch, who won the Broadway Dallas HSMTA Outstanding Lead Performer two times and is starring as Fantine in the national tour of Les Misérables.

TWU taps Monica Christopher as inaugural president of Dallas campus

Texas Womans University has named longtime nonprofit executive and community relations veteran Monica Christopher as the inaugural president of the universitys Dallas campus. She begins her role on Feb. 1.

Christopher, who has held key fundraising and relationship building posts spanning 25 years at Communities Foundation of Texas and The Dallas Morning News/WFAA, will lead the Dallas campus as it works to elevate the impact of the campus in the Dallas community.

Monica is an exceptional innovator and collaborator with a solid track record of successful fundraising and relationship building in Dallas, which will serve Texas Womans well in its quest to grow the Dallas campus, Texas Womans Chancellor Carine Feyten said.

Her Dallas roots run deep, and she has an extensive background working with boards, foundations, nonprofits and corporations. With her leadership at Texas Womans ? Dallas and her partnership with other university and college leaders, I can see Dallas developing into even more of a destination city for those seeking higher education credentials, Feyten added. Monica demonstrates great passion for her work and exudes a polished, energetic professionalism.

As president, Christopher will provide strategic leadership for the campus, which is located in the Southwestern Medical District. She will work with students, faculty, staff and key stakeholders including alumni, community members, business and industry leaders, legislators and policymakers to ensure Texas Womans is a key contributor to the higher education landscape in Dallas.

Texas Womans has a distinguished history in Dallas, and I am honored and beyond thrilled to serve as the inaugural president of the Dallas campus, Christopher said. I look forward to working with the universitys talented faculty, staff and students to grow the campus, build on its legacy of excellence and bring greater awareness to the outstanding degree programs offered here.

The Dallas campus also is home to the renowned Stroke Center, which provides more than 5,000 hours of clinical, neuro-rehabilitation services annually at no cost to members of the community. About Monica Christopher

Christopher is the inaugural president of Texas Womans Dallas campus. A seasoned fundraiser and community relations professional, she has served in key positions in both areas for the last 25 years, forging numerous successful private-public sector partnerships and amassing extensive experience in cultivating and stewarding major donors, grant making, program management, and public speaking. During her 15-year tenure at Dallas-based Communities Foundation of Texas, she rose to the level of senior vice president and chief giving and community impact officer, leading several teams in fundraising efforts that set new benchmarks in gifts and funds created. While at The Dallas Morning News/WFAA, she also held several positions over nearly 10 years in community relations aimed at building community engagement, raising brand awareness and coordinating charity events. Additional leadership roles for Christopher include involvement in the Dallas Regional Chamber, Dallas Summit, Junior League of Dallas, Cotton Bowl Athletic Association, and the Womens Auxiliary at Childrens Medical Center, among other organizations.

Young Womens Preparatory Network (YWPN) is thrilled to announce that six students from Dallas Irma Lerma Rangel Young Womens Leadership School have been named QuestBridge Match Scholars.

YWPNs mission is to support single-gender, college-preparatory, public education in Texas and beyond, giving young women the academic and leadership skills to achieve success in college and in life. YWPN formed the first public/private partnership with the Dallas Independent School District in August 2004, opening the Irma Lerma Rangel Young Womens Leadership School, the first all-girls public school in Texas.

"Six QuestBridge matches is a phenomenal accomplishment for our school. There are entire districts in our area that received four or five matches, and we have SIX matches at Rangel. QuestBridge is a prestigious program that connects high-achieving, low-income students with full scholarships to the nation's best colleges. These colleges recognize the academic talent and potential of QuestBridge Match Scholars and commit to fully funding their four-year education, removing financial barriers and opening doors to top-tier institutions.

QuestBridge: Out of over 20,800 applicants, QuestBridge selected 6,683 finalists to be considered for the QuestBridge National College Match Scholarship (Match Scholarship). This year, QuestBridges 50 college partners matched with 2,242 Finalists, who are recognized as Match Scholarship Recipients. The Match Scholarship is made up of a generous financial aid package provided by the college that covers the total cost of attendance, including tuition, housing and food, books and supplies, and travel expenses.
