Seize the Day! Local teens are invited to audition for Disney’s NEWSIES, Jr. The high energy musical will be presented with STARS Theater Company’s 2022 Fall & Winter Season and all interested teen actors are encouraged to audition. STARS is an educational theater producing musicals with local young people for 28 years. In addition to teens, young actors ages 8-12 are encouraged to audition for the comedy musical THE ELVES & THE SHOEMAKER.
Auditions are scheduled for Saturday, August 6, and all interested students are encouraged to attend.

Auditions and rehearsals will be at the Community Building behind the FUMC Bedford located at 2012 Shady Brook in Bedford.
Disney’s NEWSIES Jr is based on the 1992 film and the 2012 Broadway hit about the newsboy strike in 1899. When titans of publishing, Joseph Pulitzer and William Randolph Hearst, raise distribution prices at the newsboys’ expense, the newsies from across the city rally together to strike against the unfair conditions and fight for what's right! The Tony Award winning score includes songs such as “Seize the Day”, “Carrying The Banner”, and “Santa Fe”.
The hilarious musical, ELVES & THE SHOEMAKER, is based on the classic story of a kind shoemaker with a gentle heart and no money. The delightful adaptation includes a cast of kooky characters including: Lockhardt, the shoemaker; the evil landlady, Sneerella Twerm; Mrs. Snootbottom; five histerical elves, Mortz, Schwartz, Hazel, Gracie, and Studebaker, and many more. Young actors ages 8-12 bring magic to this delightful classic. The musical score includes songs such as “Enough, Enough”, “They’re Wonderful”, and “Doodle-ee”. All roles will be played by young people.
With plenty of roles for both male and female actors, experienced performers and those new to the stage should seize the day and join the fun at STARS Theater Company. STARS is an educational theater company for young people ages 8-1. Students study acting, singing, and dancing. Tuition is $100/month. Rehearsals are every 1st & 3rd Saturday. Audition materials available upon request. All interested students are invited to a Pre-Audition class on Saturday, July 16, 10am-2pm.
