Tickets For 2014 Wine & Jazz On Sale

Tickets are now available on line for the 2014 Wine & Jazz event on October 16.  This annual event features live Jazz music, a silent auction and a variety of wines from near and far as well as beer from our local brewing company Shannon Brewing.  We will also be featuring several restaurants to sample delectible foods.

This year we are raising money for the No Brother Fights Alone Foundation through the sale of Wine & Jazz wine glasses.  You can also have the glasses personalized at no additional cost by Ken Brown at the event.

Ken Brown & Calligraphy are often spoken in the same sentence. His work is known worldwide since his love affair with letters began at Oklahoma State University a few decades ago. He’s had his own Public Television series, that aired from 1984 - 1996, teaching his self-developed technique for hand-lettering. His pen and ink Calligraphy has been published into tens of millions of art prints and learning materials.

In 2005, his relationship began with suppliers, retailers, and wholesalers of wine and spirits. His elegant writing style has graced many thousands of bottles of all descriptions. Beer to bourbon, and vermouth to Venezuelan vodka. He does it with a dental drill and if the sound doesn’t draw in a crowd, the elegant script that flows from the drill certainly will. Ken is available for special events from the launching of product to the exciting events where the public loves his work on their gift bottles. He’s done them for births, birthdays, proposals, weddings, anniversaries, graduations, promotions, and even an occasional divorce where the individual wants to mark the occasion with a memorable and lasting quote or statement on a favorite bottle, marking his or her newfound freedom.

Ken’s engraved bottles add class and uniqueness to any bar, mantle, or other display where they are frequent topics of conversation about the event they made special.

Lamberto, a local artist will be creating a live work at the event. Once completed, by the end of the evening, we will begin the auction for it.  This one of kind piece of work will be something you'll want hanging in your home or office.

ABOUT MY ART

I work in several styles using an array of techniques, notably scratchboard, dry-brush painting, and, most recently, found objects that I collect from flea markets and trash cans. This body of sculptural art will be part of a special show that will be exhibited later in 2005.

Most recently I was fortunate enough to be involved in the Walt Disney Company's "75 InspEARations" campaign that celebrated Mickey Mouse's 75th anniversary. Seventy-five people from around the United States were selected to design their unique interpretation of Mickey. Unbeknownst to me, most of the other participants were celebrities, actors and musicians, such as Ben Affleck, John Travolta, Tom Hanks, Andy Garcia, Jamie Lee Curtis, Shaquille O'Neal and Sir Elton John. I call my version of Mickey Mouse "El Mickey," and he has a decidedly Tex-Mex flair. Through the magic of Mickey, "75 InspEARations" brought "El Mickey" and me a lot of attention from the media and television, radio and print and perhaps because "El Mickey" has both Latino and Texan appeal, or maybe because my participation in the campaign begged the question: "How in the heck did this guy end up in such good company?" Whatever the reason, I feel very lucky to have been a part of such a monumental celebration; Mickey Mouse probably will not celebrate another big anniversary for another 25 years.

This years event is sure to please everyone in attendance.  Just log on to www.kellerchamber.com and purchase your tickets there or call the chamber office at 817-431-2169 for more information.  Tickets are only $30 for chamber members and $35 for non members.
