It's time to kick off your summer fun at the annual Southlake Summer Kick Off.

Arts Council Northeast and the City of Southlake are pleased to welcome Big Bang Boom for a free concert on Saturday, June 3 at the Rustin Pavilion at Southlake Town Square (1400 Main Street, Southlake, TX 76092) This free concert is part of Southlake's big annual Summer Kick Off event and Arts Council Northeast's MasterWorks program.

Enjoy live music from Big Bang Boom.  Established in 2007 out of Greensboro, North Carolina, this rockin' 3-piece power pop band consists of talented artists and long-time musicians Chuck Folds, Steve Willard, and Eddie Walker. But this group doesn’t play just any ole average music…. GET THIS! These dynamic dads play parent-friendly children’s music!!!! That’s right! After 20 years of touring, Chuck, Steve and Eddie decided to expand their horizons and play for parents (like themselves) who want MORE from children’s music. They write songs with a pop sensibility by cleverly mixing alternative, hip-hop, pop, country, and other genres to create music that parents AND children can relate to and enjoy!! Think of it as a “kid-appropriate frat party.” WHAT ENERGY!

Enjoy the live music, a 28' tipi and the Tipi Storytellers, games, crafts, Rita's Italian Ice, S'mores and so much more.  Over 1,500 people enjoy this event each year as they register for summer programs and discover what makes Southlake the hottest place in Texas.

Kids can sign up for Camp Big Read, Southlake's 2017 summer reading program.

There’s no summer like a Southlake summer and that’s certainly the story with the reading program. Camp Big Read is a one-of-a-kind experience filled with events, special activities, and lots and lots of prizes.

Participating families will:
• Go on a Virtual Great White Shark Expedition
• Explore the Universe
• Master Technology with the Perot Museum
• See Live Performances
• Have Hands-on Fun with Animals and so much more.

They will also discover over 45,000 titles in the Southlake Library while they earn virtual badges and real prizes for logging their reading minutes with the Library. Camp Big Read is a free, 10- week summer reading program which encourages families to make the Library part of their summer fun. It is open to all ages. Registration for Camp Big Read begins at the Summer KickOff event and continues through the summer in the Library and online. More information is available at SouthlakeLibrary.com.

Through the MasterWorks Series, Arts Council Northeast and the City of Southlake present free performances on selected evenings throughout the year. The MasterWorks Series is designed to offer a variety of free quality family entertainment to the community by utilizing the talent of local, regional, and national artists.
