Arts Council Northeast invites you to support the arts in your community at our annual fundraising event - the TRIPLE CROWN AFFAIR at LONE STAR PARK on Saturday, May 6, 2017

Get your Derby hats ready!

We’ll be in Grand Prairie, Texas, from 2-6pm to watch “The Run for the Roses” – the Kentucky Derby. Guests will enjoy a fabulous buffet, and complimentary beer and wine. Live and silent auctions, along with a Derby hat contest, will add to the fun. The event will be in the private Alysheba Ballroom, where attendees will watch the live horse races at Lone Star Park from the large terrace and cheer on their favorites as they cross the finish line!  The Kentucky Derby will be simulcast live on the televisions in the ballroom. 

Not only is the Triple Crown Affair a fun social event, and it will be a great opportunity to promote your business while supporting a good cause.  You can help us in our mission by becoming a sponsor for this event or donate an item or service for our silent and live auctions.

With a vision of access to the arts for all, our mission is to provide artistic, cultural and educational opportunities to improve the quality of life in our communities. Proceeds will support our ongoing arts programs, such as our new Art on Wheels - a program for senior citizens centers to have art lessons, including an artist kit and lessons twice a month with an art teacher. We expect to expand this to include a Mommy in Waiting program at a local hospital.

Visual and Performing Art Teachers Needed!

ATTENTION TEACHERS: Looking to make some extra money this summer?   Arts Council Northeast is hiring summer teachers for children ages 6-12 (elementary arts camp) and ages 13-16 (teen arts camp).  We are looking for teachers in the visual and performing arts (Music, Drama, and Visual Arts) for our Summer Arts College.

The sessions will be located in the North Tarrant County area and will be held in June and July, Monday-Friday. Pay will be based on experience and degree.

If you are interested in teaching or would like more information, please contact Bobbie McFarland at 817.283.3406. All teachers are subject to a criminal background check. Resume required unless previous teaching history with Arts Council Northeast.

Know some creative kids that are interested in attending Summer Arts Camps?  We are currently offering DISCOUNTED registration fees through April 30th.  Scholarships are available to students who are financially unable to attend.  More info on our Summer Arts College here.

Know a creative kid? We believe you do - All kids are creative! Our Summer Arts College offers a unique opportunity for children ages 6-16* to learn from some of the area’s top artists. We are offering discounted registration fees NOW through April 30th. More than 5,798 students have attended our Summer Arts College with 2,241 scholarships over the past 21 years. This unique opportunity for children ages 6-16* to be a part of an imaginative, fun, week-long cultural experience that opens up children's minds and worlds, offering them skills they need for a bright future. Summer Arts College continues to fill a gap for students while they're out of school, allowing them to spend their summer vacation productively in a fun, creative, and educational environment.
 
Summer Arts Camps include:
 
• Set Design - Students will be an integral part of the design and creation of the set.
 
• Musical Theater - Students will learn creative songwriting, vocal, dance and acting skills in a creative, supportive and FUN environment, concluding with a performance. Imaginations welcome!
 
• Visual Art - Students will create works of art using techniques of the Great Masters - through painting, drawing, clay, and many other mediums.

Grant Money Available for Arts-Related Programs

 

Arts Council Northeast, in partnership with Texas Commission on the Arts, is offering grants for arts-related programs to schools, ISDs, 501(c)3 non-profit organizations, cities, and individuals located in the 16 cities we serve. These cities include Bedford, Colleyville, Euless, Grapevine, Haltom City, Haslet, Hurst, Keller, North Richland Hills, Richland Hills, Roanoke, Saginaw, Southlake, Trophy Club, Watauga, and Westlake.

The submission deadline is Wednesday, November 30, 2016. Grants will be awarded in the 1st quarter of 2017.

If your organization is outside our area of service and provides an arts-based program that benefits our 16-city area, please submit an inquiry letter describing your program or project prior to submitting an application.

Through its grant program, offered yearly, Arts Council Northeast is able to offer financial support for arts-related programs in North Tarrant and Southern Denton Counties.  Since 1997, Arts Council Northeast has partnered with the Texas Commission on the Arts in generating over $1.5 million in funds spent in support of the arts in our communities.

Raising money for the arts is an ongoing commitment and service that Arts Council Northeast provides through matching grants from the Texas Commission on the Arts and fundraising events that occur throughout the year.  Projects the grant money has helped fund include iPads for Progressing Pianists (Keller ISD), Special Weekend for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing at Imagination Celebration (BISD), and The Cliburn's Musical Awakenings program.  Trinity Arts Guild, Regal Opera Company, ONSTAGE in Bedford, and the Northeast Orchestra are also past recipients of grants from Arts Council Northeast. Wednesday, November 9, 2016, Arts Council Northeast presents Taste of Northeast, an annual charity event, with proceeds benefiting Arts Council Northeast and its community arts programs. Taste of Northeast will be held at the Hurst Conference Center, 1601 Campus Drive in Hurst, from 5:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.  Parking is free.

 Bring your appetite and your holiday shopping list!  In addition to food from area restaurants, there will be gift vendors, live entertainment, a raffle for a $500 Visa card to help with your holiday shopping, wine pull, and a silent auction.

 The delicious “tastes” will be provided by 25+ area restaurants, including returning favorites as well as new participants. You’ll sample a wide variety of food from many types of cuisine, along with several types of drink to try.

 Taste of Northeast offers a great opportunity to shop for the holidays. Our many vendors will be offering specialty gift items that are sure to delight. We’ll offer you beautiful and unique jewelry, art, and clothing, along with gift certificates for pampering your favorite people. Nominating organizations attend the luncheon in support of their own Shining Star and other honorees.  Luncheon guests are the crème de la crème of the area’s most prominent volunteers and community leaders.

The luncheon is preceded by an elegant reception where wonderful art donated by local artists is available to the highest bidder.   There is also a small, exclusive silent auction offering unique items from arts patrons and some of the finest retailers in the community.

Thursday: Keller MasterWorks - Me & My Monkey - a Beatles Tribute Band

Arts Council Northeast and the City of Keller are pleased to welcome Me & My Monkey for a free concert on June 16, at the Keller Town Hall, 1100 Bear Creek Parkway, Keller (patio-outside) 7:15 pm - 8:45 pm.

With its two original members, George Jara and Rod Bollinger (George Harrison and John Lennon) since its initiation the band have added two other members, Michael Daniel and Paul Sacco (Ringo Starr and Paul McCartney). This group of four concludes the line-up of the Beatles tribute band Me and My Monkey. They have traveled widely perfecting their talents. Me and My Monkey have appeared in various television shows, headlined numerous festivals and performed as the opening act for a hand full of classic rock favorites in the United Stated.

The band has also toured around the U.S and performed in the U.K. As Paul Sacco said in an interview “We feel there is only one way to do this…the right way. We’ll stop at nothing to give people the feeling that they are actually seeing and hearing the Beatles live.” “We actually are very competitive within the band itself, as far as the attention to detail. We are our own toughest critics.” The Fort Worth Weekly elected Me and My Monkey as the Best Cover Band, 2003.

 

 

 

Thursday: Roanoke MasterWorks - Revolving Door - Live Classic Rock, Country and Blues cover band

Arts Council Northeast and the City of Roanoke are pleased to welcome Revolving Door for a free concert on June 16, 2016 at the Austin Street Plaza Corner of Oak & Austin St. 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm.

Revolving Door is a Dallas/Ft. Worth-based Country, Classic Rock, and Blues cover band comprised of musicians who enjoy playing the good stuff from music history. Their members have a combined experience of more than 75 years of musical entertainment excellence. They play the music you really want to dance to. When Revolving Door plays, the energy fills the room, people shuffle in their seats and tap their feet until moments later, when they jump up and fill the dance floor. Revolving Door seems to magically read the mind of the crowd and play exactly what they would like to hear and dance to, with an excitement that keeps everyone smiling. Revolving Door is a blend of energy and excitement. The best musical talents were selected not only for stunning musicianship, but also for their unique combination of intensity and lyricism. You can expect to hear vocal harmonies, searing lead guitar, rock solid bass, and driving drums.

 

 

Friday: Watauga MasterWorks - Zack King - Rock and Roll

Arts Council Northeast and the City of Watauga are pleased to welcome Zack King Band for a free concert on June 17, 2016 at the Capp Smith Park Amphitheatre, 5800 Robin Dr. 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm.

Zack King and his band have been performing their unique brand of Texas Rock across the U.S. for over 10 years. In that time they have played with some of the most illustrious superstars in rock and country music. They kicked off their career opening for legendary singer/songwriter Leon Russell and have since performed with the likes of Bon Jovi, Alabama, Chris Cagle, Bret Michaels, Randy Travis, Keith Anderson, Kevin Fowler, Stone Temple Pilots, Tesla, Ronnie Milsap and many more. The NHL’s Dallas Stars have been using Zack King songs for years both at Dallas’ American Airlines Center during home games as well as in advertising and promotion for the team. Most recently, the band’s single “What Do You Say” is being used by CBS Television in Dallas/Fort Worth to promote current programming. Their song “Big Plan in the Southland” is the theme song for CBS’ DFW Outdoorsman featuring former Dallas Cowboy Marcus Spears.

The MasterWorks Series is designed to offer a variety of quality family entertainment to the community by utilizing the talent of local, regional, and national artists.

THURSDAY: Arts Council Northeast and the City of Roanoke are pleased to welcome The Killdares for a free concert on June 02, at the Austin Street Plaza - Corner of Oak & Austin St.

Launched in 1996 by drummer and lead singer Tim Smith, The Killdares have evolved in exciting and sometimes unexpected ways while keeping front and center their core mix of passionate vocals, wailing electric guitar, fiery fiddle and hypnotic bagpipes. Since the mid-90s, The Killdares have maintained an extraordinary commitment to the visceral, organic feel of the music and their belief that the greatest creativity and musical magic always lies ahead. Smith and his band mates are dedicated most of all to The Killdares’ enthusiastic, ever-expanding fan base—which has made them a popular annual attraction in their home state of Texas and throughout the entire U.S. at clubs, pubs, Irish-themed and general festivals, summer concert series and Performing Arts Centers. “Whether we play in front of 10,000 people or a few hundred,” Smith says, “we always strive to deliver the same high energy show and are there to make deep, lasting connections with old and new fans. One of the great things about being a quintessential indie band is that there is no template for when and how we perform!” 

Arts Council Northeast and the City of Bedford are pleased to welcome OverDrive for a free concert on Thursday, June 2nd at the Old Bedford School, 2400 School Lane.

OverDrive is a premier cover band that plays from top 100 hits to classics. Weddings, corporate events, bars, shows, birthdays and special occasions are just a few of their specialties. OverDrive is a touring cover band based out of Dallas Ft. Worth. Overdrive not only rocks the party, but they also interact with the audience to create a memorable experience. They can be your jukebox. Overdrive plays all types of music ranging from the latest hottest hits to the original classics.

 

 

 

FRIDAY: Arts Council Northeast and the City of Watauga are pleased to welcome Brave Combo for a free concert on June 03, at the Capp Smith Park Amphitheatre, 5800 Robin Dr.


For the past three decades the Denton, Texas based quintet has perfected a world music mix that includes salsa, meringue, rock, cumbia, conjunto, polka, zydeco, classical, cha cha, the blues and more. They are America’s Premier Dance band and a rollicking, rocking, rhythmic global journey — offering what one critic recently wrote, “Even if you come for the party, you’ll leave with something of a musical education.” Brave Combo’s catalog of recordings range from Japanese pop to Latin American dance tunes, to the orchestral classics to rock and roll at its finest. The band has recorded with the late Tiny Tim, and were the band Talking Head’s David Byrne chose for his wedding reception. The band has won two Grammy Awards and been nominated for their work 7 times. Brave Combo’s vivid music can be heard in the films David Byrne’s True Stories, Clive Barker’s Lord of Illusions, Late Bloomers, Fools Rush In, Envy, The Academy award winning The Personals. They appeared at Oktoberfest in the beloved American burg of Springfield on an episode of “The Simpsons” and in 2008 Brave Combo provided the musical score for PBS’s first ever animated series, “As the Wrench Turns” which resulted in an “Annie” nomination from the International Animated Film Society. Their music has also been featured on ABC’s hit series “Ugly Betty”, and Fox Television’s “Bakersfield P.D.” They have also contributed original music for ESPN and The Big Ten network.

 

SATURDAY: Arts Council Northeast and the City of Southlake are pleased to welcome The Space Rockers for a free concert on June 04, at the Rustin Pavilion at Southlake Town Square.

People have fallen under a spell that keeps them from dancing. The galaxy’s most famous intergalactic superheroes, The Space Rockers, have landed to break the trance and restore the party. The Space Rockers are a show band primarily focusing on Hip-Hop/ Dance music but also play hits from the 80's and 90's. The show is definitely unlike anything you've ever seen Combining theatrics and comedy, and wearing colorful costumes, The Space Rockers extensive laser, lights and video projections will definitely take you on a fantastic voyage. People can't seem to help but laugh and get carried away in the light-hearted fun that is The Space Rockers. Come join Mandroid, Probe, Thunderstick, Stinger, and Neuron, along with their dynamic spaceship on a unforgettable voyage that will free your spirit and move your body on the dance floor.
